“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.” - Anias Nin

Areas of Expertise

Psychotherapy and Counseling

Whether struggling with a specific challenge in life or relationship, or continuing your growth on the ever-expanding spiritual path of life, it is my passion to share this journey with you. I believe strongly in the mind-body connection and utilize mindfulness-based techniques (such as meditation, visualization and body awareness) united with elements of more traditional modalities. Encompassing a holistic approach to therapy, all aspects of the client's life are included to increase balance and self-awareness, identify personal therapeutic goals, and then to co-create the most enriching path toward optimal health.

Alison is experienced in individual, couples & group counseling, with a specialization in interpersonal trauma, marriage & family work. She frequently works with grief, adjustment issues throughout the life cycle, depression, anxiety, anger management, substance abuse, LGBTQIA+ clients, issues surrounding sexuality & many facets of trauma.

What to expect on your first visit

Every client is unique. We are all different humans, and need different blends of nourishment to help us thrive. Like plants, our needs often change throughout the life cycle. Perhaps you are feeling down or anxious - maybe you're unsure about the future of a relationship or just feel that you aren't living the life you were meant to lead. Perhaps you are living with chronic pain - emotional or physical - or are going through a life adjustment and have been struggling to find a healing path that is effective in creating more peace. I am here to guide you in the process of overcoming whatever obstacles are in the way of fulfilling your joy.

In our first visit, we will get started on this process. Initial visits are generally 90 minutes. This gives us time to review counseling policies and procedures, ensure all questions are answered, and dive into your comprehensive history so a solid understanding of what brings you to counseling, as well as contributing factors to those presenting issues, has been cultivated. Subsequent individual sessions are most usually 50 minutes, with couples and family sessions often continuing at 90 minutes per meeting, in order to ensure enough time is available to make meaningful progress. This can be discussed and adjusted as needed, of course.

All remote sessions are conducted through Doxy, a HIPAA compliant virtual platform.
